Lucy was frozen. How was she supposed to even respond to a confession like that. She knew Sally was into her, that was definitely no secret, but Sally had not once deviated from the bullying side of tsundere up to now. Lucy had assumed that was mostly a physical thing anyway. This was a joke right? A tease? A game of some sort? Lucy didn't know. Why'd she tell Lucy? Sally, recognizing the silence as an answer, let go of Lucy's wrist, and decided to pretend nothing had been said.

"I think it's about time to catch some sun yeah?" Sally took off her sarong and sandals. "We missed a spot, you'll wanna take those off if you don't want some hilarious tan lines." Great, Lucy thought sarcastically, plenty of silence to get into my head about what Sally just said. Lucy laid down and closed her eyes, but just as she was about to get into her own head overanalyzing the days events, she felt the sun leave her face. Lucy opened her eyes to the sight of some sun-bleached blonde himbo beefcake standing over the two of them. Lucy didn't think there was any way sally had noticed yet. Beefcake appreciation was one of the reasons they were there after all.

"We've got a volleyball game going either of you'd ladies like to join?" Himbo was grinning, there were sunbathers everywhere and plenty between there and the nearby volleyball court. They were both diminuitive 4'11''s, this couldn't really be about volleyball. This is the sort of situation that would normally make Lucy stumble over her words while simultaneously saying something weird. Not today! Lucy wanted so badly to escape the introspection she was avoiding that she didn't even notice he was hot. Lucy spoke without thinking.

"Sure we'd love to!"

Sally sat up puzzled. This wasn't the normal avoid social interaction at all costs Lucy. Something was up, and Sally was going to find out what it was.

"Yeah, that sounds fun, you are?"

"Ah sweet this is gonna be fun, I'm Matt, what's your names ladies?"

"I..uh..um..oh-"

"She's Lucy, I'm Sally" Sally interrupted. Lucy's thoughts had finally caught up with her and she was realizing what situation she had gotten herself into. Sally wasted no time getting up and taking Lucy by the hand to the beach sand volleyball court. Sally was going to make Lucy lay in this social bed she made. There was already a gaggle of co-ed players, all pretty good looking, and there was definitely a hint of beer in the air. Not everyone in the area was playing, far from it. It wasn't a huge crowd, but there were a good dozen spectators there to enjoy a summer afternoon of bird watching.

"I found two!" Matt piped up. One of the taller women looked frustrated with him.

"We needed one Matt!"

Oh fuck this bitch, Sally thought to herself. Sally looked to Lucy with a plan in mind. She leaned over to Lucy and whispered in her ear. "Are you ready to be a top today?"

"Well I brought two!" Matt shouted back. It was really matter of fact and teasing, those two obviously had some sort of rapport.

Lucy was red enough you could have mistaken it for a sunburn, she looked stiff.

"Oh don't worry I've solved that problem. We're a package deal anyway, you're not getting me without her." Sally looked at Lucy, who was clearly still trying to process the top comment. "Well what should I have expected, if you're not going to get on top let me up Lucy." Sally climbed onto Lucy's shoulders, and Lucy turned redder from embarrassment, having figured out what the hell Sally was talking about, but also because her head was now planted firmly between Sally's thighs. Sally placed a finger on her lips and looked down at Lucy. Lucy knew what that meant. Sally was ready to crush some people, they were demon girls after all, and no one was the wiser, Sally was telling Lucy to sandbag a little bit so it wouldn't be obvious. Except for the woman that piped up earlier, everyone else was reacting with a combination of approving laughter and adda girls. Lucy decided they must have all been focusing on Sally.

Matt leaned over to Sally and spoke quietly, "Don't mind Stacy she's a bit competitive." Sally politely nodded to Matt to acknowledge, but she wasn't having any of it, Stacy was going down. No one seemed to think they were at an advantage, even stacked together they barely counted as a tall person and it was going to require some coordination anyway.  Lucy and Sally were on net duty, and so was Stacey, just to their left on the other team. Their team had first serve, and Sally looked down at Lucy for a moment.

"Hold on tight and be a good bottom for me now would you?" The ball was served and flew over their heads, and a spike was being set up. Stacey was going to get the first crack at it and she wasted no time sending the ball straight for Sally. Lucy squatted down so Sally could get an effective block, it was a little unsteady but it worked. Lucy stood back up and they wobbled a bit. Matt was to their left and set. Lucy hopped a little bit and Sally stood a bit coming off Lucy's shoulders. Sally put her wrist into it and no sooner could you see her hit the ball than was it impacting on the ground at Stacey's feet. Sally's devilish smile lasted only a moment as they came back down. Sally standing up on her shoulders had destabilized Lucy enough that they both tumbled down on landing.

"SHIT!"

"COCK!"

Both of them went down shouting profanities. Everyone was having a laugh, but they scored the first point. Sally and Lucy quickly scrambled back into position. The other team noticed. Sally's spike was frightening but those two were unstable. The next couple of serves saw them getting targeted by the entire opposing team, trying to get them to fall down and create an opening. It didn't always work, but it was working enough and they pulled ahead by a few points. After falling in the sand over and over Sally's elbows and knees were starting to get raw. The crowd was getting pretty into it. Two short girls stacked up weren't supposed to even be putting up a fight.

A drunk onlooker shouted, "Y'all havin' a bit of trouble with two kids in a trench coat?!"

That comment got into the other teams head a bit. It was true that their strategy was working, but they shouldn't be having this much trouble with a pair of shorties playing voltron. They tried probing other parts of Lucy and Sally's team but that just resulted in Sally getting some clean setups and that was devastating. The score was evened up by the time the other team realized they should stop. On the tying shot Sally and Lucy hit the ground again.

Lucy whispered to Sally while they were down, "If you keep hitting the ball like that it's going to burst, dial it back a bit."

"If we're going to win I have to, you're a total klutz," Sally whispered back.

"Win? I've just been staring at Matt."

Sally gave her a death glare and got to her feet. Sally stopped whispering. "Lucy I think it's time for you to get up top, my elbows are gonna bleed if I fall anymore." Before Lucy could raise a protest the peanut gallery joined in.

"Yeah Lucy get up there short stuff!"

Lucy was confused into silence, she thought it was just Sally getting all the attention. At least one person in the crowd, drunk as they were, managed to remember her name even. She felt herself being hoisted up, apparently she had been stun locked by the comment long enough that Sally was just picking her up now. Lucy was a little disoriented. A few people in the crowd were actually saying stupid things like 'Yeah Lucy' and 'Go Lucy'. It didn't make any sense. Sally looked up at her.

"So this is what it's like on this end. These are soft very nice."

Lucy flushed, the comment wasn't helping. Suddenly ball. Stacey had sent one right at her. Sally had lowered herself but Lucy had her head in the clouds and didn't notice until the ball smacked her right in the face. The crowd let out a collective oof, but right after that they kept calling her name anyway. But I messed up, Lucy's stupid why are they still calling my name, Lucy thought. It wasn't helping her focus on the game. For her part, having been up top most the game, Sally knew exactly what she needed to do to get Lucy into favorable positions, but Lucy's head wasn't in it. She was too distracted by the positive affirmation, she just didn't get it. They were more than a few points behind now, Stacey's team would be taking the game soon. Another serve. Another setup for Stacey. Spike straight to Lucy. Sally got them low. Lucy blocked. She sent it lazily over the net instead of setting, but she did it, she blocked it. Set. A streaker to Matt. Matt blocks, sets to Lucy. Wham! She drove it home, she did it. Lucy's first point. She earned a few cheers.

Lucy made a few consecutive conspicuous breaths. Keep it together Lucy just do that again don't get excited. More sets, more serves. Smack, smack, smack. Their favorite punching bag was driving home point after point. This was it, the game. Their serve. Over it went. Set. The ball went whizzing to the back row, the block sends it back over, were they avoiding her? Another setup for their opponents. To Matt. He deflects but it keeps going backwards. Back row saves but the ball goes lazily across the net a practically free setup and it's going straight for Stacey. Sally wasted no time and darted over, Matt still wasn't back in position. It was a net contest with Stacey. Stacey gets her hand on the ball first but Lucy's was right on top of it. You could only hear one smack on the ball they were so close. Back the ball went, right into Stacey's face before rolling off her unceremoniously to the ground. Game point.

Lucy raised her hands up triumphantly, "Yeah god gamer, god gamer Lucy!"

After the match they hung around for a little bit and chatted. Lucy found it a little easier than normal because the game was a subject. She wasn't too good at this talking thing but as long as they were talking about stuff they had just done together, it wasn't painful. The guys were obviously eyeing them most the time, but Lucy was actually enjoying the attention for once. Sally was used to it. It wasn't the longest of conversations, Sally really did have obvious patches of raw skin to attend to and the game had gone on long enough that it was definitely time to either get more sunscreen or get out of the sun. Sally and Lucy were quite sweaty and sandy. So they said their polite goodbyes, especially to Matt, he'd been the kindest to them. Matt just seemed to want to get another game going more than anything.

As they went back to their belongings Sally piped up, "What did I tell you, you're having a great time."

"Okay I guess," Lucy demured.

"Yeah, just okay right 'God Gamer'?"

"Shut up."

Sally let out a tired sigh, "I think we're going to have to call it here, just look at us. As much as I'd love to have you squirting all over my back again I don't count having sand rubbed into me as a good time, and it's definitely time to get out of the sun."

"Yeah your elbows aren't looking to great either."

"They sting a little yes, but I'm alright as long as you're with me."

Lucy broke eye contact again.

"Oh where'd all that confidence disappear to all the sudden, I wish someone had been recording that, you'll be denying it by tomorrow."

Lucy just nervously rubbed her left elbow with her right hand.

"Well let's get out of here then. C'mon actually help me with the stuff this time."

Sally and Lucy gathered their things and headed home.
